Differences Magnetism and Electricity

When scientists in the 1700s and 1800s began to study magnetism and electricity, they found many similarities between the two. Just as the magnet has north and south poles, electric power also has a positive and negative charge. Just as two north poles and two south poles of magnets repel each other, the two electric charge is positive or two negative electrical charge, too. And if a north pole and a magnetic south pole attract each other, positive and negative electrical charges are the same.

Scientists studying the force of interesting and reject it. They know that it depends on the distance between the power or poles. They also know that the force of it depends on the amount of force or the proximity of the polar style lines. For electricity and magnetism, scientists have the same mathematical formula to describe what they observe.

They found one important difference between electricity and magnetism. Positive and negative forces of electricity can exist separately. An object or particle can have a positive or negative charge only. But always have a second magnetic north and south poles. If you break a magnet in the middle, you will create two magnets, each of which has its north and south poles of their own.

One big magnet consists of many tiny magnets with a north and south pole are aligned. One magnet is sometimes called a dipole ( "di" is from the Greek word for "two"). This is because the magnet must have two poles. Scientists continue to search for the north or south pole insulated, called a magnetic monopole ( "mono" from the Greek word for "one"). However, the monopole has not been found to date.
